Who we are

Expatax B.V. is a limited company registered in the Netherlands who carry out tax and accounting services and are certified by the Register Belastingadviseurs. This privacy policy pertains to our website expatax.nl and information, cookies and analytics collected on it.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

At Expatax, we take your privacy very seriously and only use personal data shared with us to provide the services you have requested from us, detailed in our letter of engagement or service agreement. The personal data we request is necessary to comply with national legislations.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on Expatax’s blog, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. Review the Gravatar service privacy policy for more information. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact forms

Any personal data you provide via our contact forms is treated as confidential and will never be shared outside of our organisation unless we get your express permission to do so first. We never pass on email addresses to third parties.

Depending on which of our services you enlist us for, our work may require us to pass certain information to our third-party service providers or other organisations such as the tax authorities, for the purpose of completing the task you specifically hire Expatax for. We disclose only the information that is absolutely necessary and only to trusted organisations that will not use or disclose it for marketing purposes.

Cookies

We do not provide a login to our website nor do we require you to login if you want to leave a comment on our site. We also don’t track you around our website or after you have left our website. There are no advertisements placed on our website.

The website does contain a link to our Client Portal. This link will only work if we have specifically granted you access to your own external personal client portal once you have become a client of Expatax. It is not possible to create a login yourself. Any login information will also not be stored on our website. The Client Portal is hosted on the servers of AFAS.

We do use an anti-spam prevention plugin (CleanTalk) to prevent spam in our comments or in our forms. These anti-spam plugin uses cookies to function properly so that our website can be protected against unwanted use. These cookies are purely functional and are required to let our website function properly. These cookies don’t store personal data.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site will not include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.) from other websites. All content is owned by Expatax and stored on our servers.

Analytics

Expatax may use Google Analytics to analyse information about how visitors use our website so that we can make improvements and give visitors a better experience. Google Analytics is a third-party information storage system that records information about the pages you visit, the length of time you were on specific pages and the website in general, how you arrived at the site and what you clicked on when you were there. These cookies do not store any personal data and we do not share the data. You can view Google’s privacy policy for information on how they treat your data.

Currently we do not use Google Analytics.

Who we share your data with

We never share any details of our clients with third parties witout their express permission. Expatax will only use personal data shared with us to provide the services you have requested from us, detailed in our letter of engagement or service agreement.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we may recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments on this website, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments are checked through an automated spam detection service (CleanTalk).
